The Sound of Music Live! was an American television special, broadcast live on NBC on December 5, 2013.
Produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the three-hour event was an adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's original 1959 Broadway musical rather than the classic 1965 film.
The production starred country music superstar and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, Broadway's Audra McDonald , Laura Benanti and, Stephen Moyer as Captain Georg von Trapp.
